Sporty secrets... (Shhh!)
Hey, so I know everyone does exercise at some point in the week, whether this be at school, out jogs, in the gym or even that painful task of walking (I know, its a killer!). I've just watched a documentary about fitness and I find it hard to believe that everything we do to try and keep our bodies fit can actually make us worse off!
Let's start with food and dieting, we've all tried either to cut the carbs or go for the full out heart attack diet. So some things you probably didn't know about dieting:
1) Breakfast... My friends know that I'm a sucker for skipping breakfast, in my mind it makes me feel healthier because I'm taking in less carbs and fat, but actually skipping breakfast makes us eat more sugary foods later and we end up over all taking in more than people who are healthy and do eat.
You might be sitting there thinking 'well I'm fine, I have a bowl of cereal or a cereal bar every morning, but I bet you've never checked the levels in your 4% fat special K. We are honestly better off eating a bar of chocolate for breaky! :O
2) 5 a day.... So banana's, what do you know about them? Energy boost. Yes. Healthy, yes. Nuclear, yes.
If you take your 5 a day to the extreme then you have as much a chance as Homer Simpson to cause a nuclear explosion. Okay, you think I'm going crazy, I understand. But bananas have small doses of chemicals and if you eat more than twelve bananas at a time you could get really ill-so maybe hold back on that phone call to Guinness World Records.
3)Booze... I'm personally not old enough to drink but I've always thought the drunken wrecks coming out of pubs is just horrific. The thing is though, they lower their chances of getting some terminal illnesses like cancer. But this doesn't mean that gin and tonic every night is acceptable! You still have to drink moderately and stick to the guidelines.
So I've given you three points on food (and alcohol) still intrigued? Carry on reading...
FASHION...(I'm not called a fashion blogger for nothing you know!)
1) Trainers..we all own them, it might be the knew Nike Blazers, a pair or two of high tops or maybe proper running trainers or spikes. Well, did you know that those thick soles on your new off the wall vans aren't doing you any good? Oh and you, the regular jogger with your gel filled cushioned running shoes....nope, they're doing you more damage!
Now you probably do think I'm totally bonkers, but the cushioning that's 'supporting our ankles' (according to who??) Its actually impacting on our knees instead. So here's the story, when something high impact happens (like jumping, or even the spring in your step) our feet are supported by our chunky footwear, this sends all the impact to our knees and when they wobble we could potentially twist our ankles too. Although I will stick with my highly unattractive yet overly comfy asics, if your super sporty tale my words of wisdom please so I won't have to say I told you so! :P
GYMS
Who could live without em? Well actually everyone. Seven years of research has proven that we only need 3 minutes of exercise a day! Say what.....??
Well that is on a special high active course. We have all been believing that we need 5 hours of exercise a week when actually a three minute sprint every day is all it technically takes for you to be as fit as a fiddle!
My question here is how come we aren't all size 0 models then? Well that really depends on your food intake. (See above ^)
2) Gyms can leave you really ill, you know that sweaty man on the exercise bike before you, he didn't use the antibacterial spray and now all his sweat is right where you are about to start working out. Grossed out yet? Well maybe you'd been watching and noticed that fit girl did wipe the handles of the treadmill, but what did she wipe it with? The cloth provided perhaps? Well yes that has thousands of other germs on it.
So here is my tip....take TWO towels with you, one for personal use and the other to wipe down your apparatus before and after you've used it.
3) Here's my final tip and it ties in nicely with the last. Wash your self, those horrid towels, and your kit after. Also it might be nice of you did everyone a favour and sprayed those shoes once in a while. Also you have to wash out your smelly bag to stop germs spreading.
This has been a bit of a strange blog for once and you've maybe even got an urge to go out and get fit for the new year.
Anyway however you feel comment below any thoughts or reactions. Bye for now, Emma :)
